The Phnom Penh airport bus is now the Airport Express Bus (AEB) from Techo International Airport (KTI), and it is the cheapest way to get from Phnom Penh airport to the city centre by a wide margin.
We first covered the airport bus in 2023, when flights still landed at the old Phnom Penh International Airport (PNH). This guide is updated with everything that changed: the new airport, the new route, the stops, the fare, the hours and how to pay.

Is There a Public Bus From Phnom Penh Airport?
The Airport Express Bus (AEB), run by Phnom Penh City Bus, links Techo International Airport (KTI) with central Phnom Penh daily from 05:30 to 23:30. KTI took over all commercial flights from Phnom Penh International Airport (PNH), which now serves military, some domestic and private flights.
The AEB is the only Phnom Penh City Bus route to the airport. City Bus Line 3, which served the old airport, does not go to KTI. The new airport is in Kandal Stueng District, Kandal Province, about 20 km south of the city.

How to Take the Airport Bus in Phnom Penh
Get Small Riel Before You Leave Arrivals
The ATMs in the arrivals hall mostly dispense US$100 notes, and the bus takes exact fares only. Change money at the Canadia Bank counter in the terminal and ask for 1,000 KHR and 500 KHR notes, or set up Bakong KHQR on a compatible banking app.

Find the Phnom Penh Airport Bus Stop
The Phnom Penh airport bus stop location is outside the terminal at the far end of the car park.
Turn left out of arrivals and follow the signs to a marked stop where blue-and-white buses wait. It is a long walk, and taxi and tuk-tuk drivers will approach you on the way.

Board the Bus to the City
Buses from KTI run north to the terminus at Kouch Kanong Circle Bus Station, so every AEB leaving the airport stop heads into the city.
Pay the 1,500 KHR Fare
Drop exactly 1,500 KHR into the cash drop box, or scan the Bakong KHQR code. The driver does not handle cash or give change, and the WingPay tap-to-pay reader does not accept international cards.

Get Off the Canadia Garden
Get off at Canadia Garden for the riverside, the Night Market and the railway station, or at the Royal University of Law and Economics for BKK1. You may need a short tuk-tuk or Grab ride on to your hotel.
Phnom Penh Airport Express Bus Stops
The Phnom Penh airport express bus stops at AEON Mean Chey, BRED Bank, the Royal University of Law and Economics and Canadia Garden, and ends at Kouch Kanong Circle Bus Station.
- AEON Mall Mean Chey (AEB07, AEB08): This stop on Samdech Techo Hun Sen Boulevard is outside AEON Mall Mean Chey.
- Samdech Techo Hun Sen Boulevard at BRED Bank (AEB05, AEB06): This stop is on Samdech Techo Hun Sen Boulevard at BRED Bank. From the boulevard, the bus crosses the Morodok Techo Flyover onto Preah Monivong Boulevard.
- Royal University of Law and Economics (AEB03, AEB04): The closest stop to Boeung Keng Kang (BKK1), about 2 km away.
- Canadia Garden (AEB01, AEB02): Many travel guides call it the Canadia Park bus stop. It stands in front of the Royal Railway Station and about 1 km from the Phnom Penh Night Market, making it the most useful stop for the riverside. Take the Phnom Penh airport bus to the train station at Canadia Garden if you are connecting to a train.
- Kouch Kanong Circle Bus Station: The terminus, in front of the Chroy Changvar Bridge and near the Embassy of France. There are fewer hotels here, so most travellers get off earlier.
Techo International Airport Express Bus Schedule
The Techo International Airport express bus schedule runs daily from 05:30 to 23:30, which are the Phnom Penh airport bus operating hours in both directions.
Official listings give a bus every 10 to 20 minutes, but it could get closer to hourly, so check the timetable on the KTI website before you fly.
For questions, KTI lists an enquiry line on (+855) 23 898 989.

Phnom Penh Airport Express Bus Ticket Price
The Phnom Penh airport express bus ticket price is a flat 1,500 KHR, about US$0.37 and often rounded to US$0.40, for any distance on the route.
It is the only Phnom Penh airport shuttle fare you will see at KTI, because the AEB is the public airport shuttle.
Where to Buy a Phnom Penh Airport Bus Ticket
You do not buy a ticket in advance. There is no counter and no online booking: you pay on board, either in cash at the drop box or with Bakong KHQR.
Pay in riel. The fare box needs exact change, and US dollar notes are impractical for it, so carry 500 KHR and 1,000 KHR notes. Bakong KHQR works through compatible Cambodian banking apps, but international cards do not work on the tap reader.

How Long Is the Bus Ride From Phnom Penh Airport to the City?
The bus ride from Phnom Penh airport to the city takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic and stops along the 26.8 km route.
The same trip takes about 45 to 60 minutes by car, so the AEB trades time for a fare more than 40 times cheaper than a Grab car.
Travelling With Luggage
The AEB is a city bus with seats and standing room, not a coach, but it has a separate luggage section.
Taking the public bus from Phnom Penh airport with luggage is manageable with one suitcase and a day bag. With more than that, or a long walk from the stop to your hotel, a Grab car is easier.

Airport Taxi
Taxis wait outside arrivals at a fixed-price counter, from about US$35 to the city centre. Carry small notes.
Tuk-Tuk
About US$15 from outside arrivals, or from about US$7.40 through an app, and around an hour on the road. Keep a hand on your bags, as luggage theft from tuk-tuks has been reported.
Phnom Penh Airport Bus vs Grab Cost
The Phnom Penh airport bus vs Grab cost gap is wide: 1,500 KHR on the bus against about US$16 to US$21 for a Grab car. Grab gets you there in 45 to 60 minutes instead of up to two hours, so pay more when time or heavy luggage makes the car worth it.

Phnom Penh Airport Shuttle for Night Arrival
The AEB stops running at 23:30, so for a Phnom Penh airport shuttle on a night arrival after that, book Grab or take an airport taxi.
Late-night transfers can cost more, and ride-hailing fares also rise in rush hours, from 8am to 9am, 11am to noon and 5pm to 6pm.
