Most people come to Beitou for the hot springs, but the food is what kept us walking. Beitou food is cheap and old-school, and the market stalls sell out by early afternoon.

We ate our way from the market stalls up to the ramen shop on Wenquan Road. This guide covers nine places worth the trip, with the address, contact number, opening hours and prices for each.

What Food Is Beitou Famous For?

Beitou food is best known for traditional Taiwanese market dishes: braised pork rice, pork rib noodles, beef noodle soup, deep-fried pork ribs and shaved ice piled with toppings, washed down with old-style black tea.

Near the hot springs, Man Ke Wu Ramen adds hot spring eggs and chilled tofu to the menu.

Yes. Beitou Market stallholders have traded from the Beitou Transitional Market across the road since 2022, and demolition of the old market began in October 2026.

The new complex is due in April 2031, so the transitional market is the place for Beitou food until then.
